    Hi Hestianites,
Firstly, thanks for such a marvellous free theme! I use it on all my sites.
However, I have a small problem, and I’m not sure if it’s Hestia-specific or WordPress core but I thought I’d start here:
I have a small hierarchy of categories on my blog, with a top-level category “sleep-apnea” which has sub-categories “cpap” and “vivos”. Some posts are in both the “cpap” and “vivos” category, and others are in all 3.
When the category archives for “vivos” is displayed, I’m noticing that the category displayed for each post is not always the primary category. You can see this in my vivos category archive, where the first four posts in the archives are in primary category “vivos” but Hestia displays “cpap” instead; they are in the “cpap” category too because the posts also discuss that topic, but that’s not their primary category and I would prefer Hestia to display the primary category.
Anyone know how to fix this please, and whether it’s a theme or core issue?
    Thanks,
    Graham

  • Hi @greyham,

Thank you for using Hestia and for your feedback!

With the primary category, are you referring to the default WordPress category that is by default set to uncategorized?

    Thanks!

    Hi Vytis,
Thanks for getting back to me. I realised since asking my question that the ability to select a primary category is a feature added by Yoast SEO. Maybe this should be a core feature but it would still be nice if the category archives displayed the primary category.
    Thanks,
    Graham

    Hi @greyham,

Got it, thank you for the confirmation.

It might be a good addition as you said to keep this compatibility with the Yoast SEO plugin and respect that “primary” category, however, for now, Hestia theme does not know about such parameter and this is the reason it’s not displayed as the primary.
