My woo commerce webshop has Product Quantity enabled in settings and the quantity step option enabled. The quantity step is set in the product category and has worked as intended for the last few years. Last week a customer complained that there was a fault on my shop, although order have come in since. I have now identified the fault to the fact that not all products are currently listing a minimum quantity (all set to 1) or a step quantity. Products that have these options can be ordered without problem but those not showing it create a teminal fault message. If I disable the quantity step in the settings, the option dissapears from the category and when I re enable it, it reappears. However, it makes no difference to the appearance on my products in the shop and even if I change the value of the step, the value shown on the webshop does not alter. How can I get the step value shown in the product category to display for the products in my shop?

    Hi @parrettbrand

This kind of problem is usually caused by a conflict with your theme or with another plugin. The best way to determine this is to:

    • Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront or Twenty Twenty-Four
    • Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    • Repeat the action that is causing the problem

If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.

I hope that helps! Let me know once you have done a conflict test!

Shameen, I will do that now. I didn’t try that first because I wasn’t aware that I had changed any settings on the shop for months. Will report back shortly.

    Hey, @parrettbrand!

?I will do that now. I didn’t try that first because I wasn’t aware that I had changed any settings on the shop for months. Will report back shortly.

All right, you can take you time. We’ll be here to help when you do ??

Just to confirm, are you using any other plugin to set this up? If so, which one?

Can you also please clarify this:

The quantity step is set in the product category

What do you mean the quantity is set in the product category?
Can you share the exact steps you follow to set this up?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!

Thanks for your help so far. I have removed all plugins that I can and am left with three.

Askimet anti-spam and Jetapack, which cannot be uninstalled and Woo Commerce.

The webshop works fine and all products can be placed in the cart

When I reactivate Product Quantity for WooCommerce Pro, I get the same problem as I did with all the plugins working.

Only two of my products are listed with minimum quantities and order step. If any other product is ordered, it causes the error message.

When Product Quantity is installed, the parameters are set in the WooCommerce settings. When activated, an extra tab appears in product Categorie.

For each Category, you can set the minimum quantity, the step in which the item will add to the order (so if it is a case of 6, the customer can only order in steps of 6. You can also set steps for the total order.

I’m selling lots of different varieties of 75cl apple juice. I set the minimum as 1, the step also as 1, so customers can order as many on each variety a they want, but the total must add up to a mulitple of 12, to make a full case.

As I have now identified that the fault is either with the Product Quantity plugin or my product database, and not the other plugins, I’m going to reinstall the ducument and tax plugins, in case I get any orders.

If someone can visit the web shop, you should see the step value under just two of the products. Every product in the same category should have the same step value.

To explain further about how the Product Quantity for WooCommerce Pro works.

First install the plugin. Go to WooCommerce settings and there will be an extra tab for Product Quantity.

The settings in this tab are pretty basic and prefilled with the usual settings. The first option is to enable the plugin. If this is ticked, then the quatity options appear in the product category settings. Product Quantity settings are NOT in the Product record, they are linked only to the product category and therefore every product in the same category will have display the same minimum order value and same step value.

In the product category record, there are option for minimum qty, step qty and total qty. You may notice that in my category for LARGE BOTTLES, that the step is set to 2.

In the webshop, of the bottles in the LARGE BOTTLE category, only 75cl Cox & Bramley is showing min 1, step 1. It should be min 1 and step 2 (because I have changed the step to 2) and so should all the other large bottle.

Changing the quantity settings in the category settings is not changing what appear in the webshop. This appears to be the issue.

Customers can only order the items with steps showing next to them. Trying to order anything else throw up a fatal error message

I hope this helps identify the problem.

OK, I will try that. I had thought that as it was completely integrated within WooCommerce, that it was part and parcel.

    Many thank
