Price comparison site

  • Hello all,

    I’m trying to build a price comparison site. I’ve been looking A LOT to make it happen and would like to use WP, but haven’t really come to a conclusion. So, I hope you can help me with this:
    – Woocommerce with Compare Products Pro plugin: this seems suited to compare different products within the site. My case is the opposite… I’ll have an exact same product from different external websites and I want to compare that exact same product based on price from those sites.
    – Templatic’s Price Compare theme: this seemed a great option… it has a csv importing tool, it automatically compares based on prices, etc… but doesn’t have a review/rating system built-in. Could this be done with a different plugin which could show on each vendor/product for clients to be able to rate it?
    they also don’t seem to be updating it anymore.
    – Awesem’s Compare theme: also very nice but though it says it supports testimonials it doesn’t seem to support them on a product by product or retailer basis. Doesn’t seem to have star rating either. Not responsive/adapted to mobile.
    – CompariPress: seems unable to add anything beyond the 5 predefined affiliate networks, which I don’t use.
    – ComparePress: seems to only be able to do predefined comparisons (mobile phones, videogames and PCs).
    – WP e-commerce, marketpress, and other solutions seem less featured in this regard than Woocommerce.

    Any idea or solution I may have overlooked?

    Hi both!

    Sorry mdbraber, idk wy I didn’t get notified or didn’t see the email back then.

    The only thing I found was Awesem’s Compare theme. In our case, it was more than disappointing.
    In the end, we developed an in-house plugin for this.

    I don’t know if there’s anything ready apart from that theme now, but there wasn’t 8 months back, because we searched aaaaaaaaall Internet to try to find it :).

    Does WP offer any website API plugins that would pull data from common online retailers such as Amazon, eBay etc.?

    I’d appreciate some ideas on how to go about building a book price comparison site. Functionally, I’d like to be able to pull book price and location details from sites like amazon using the ISBN.
