    Last night at around 10:30pm, the Subscribe2 plugin started sending emails to all of our subscribers at a rate of about one per minute. I had not scheduled any emails, and the posts that were being emailed about had all been published more than a year ago.

    This is an extremely annoying issue, as I had to toggle all of my public subscribers to “unconfirmed” in order to stop the emails from being sent out. I am hesitant to toggle them back until I find some reasoning behind this bug.

    Thanks!

  • @baustin213,

    I’ve never seen this on my sites. Have you changed anything recently?

    No. This happened (to a much less severe extent) a little more than a week ago. I believe it was the same three posts that were being sent out on Friday night. I have no idea what could have caused those posts to repeatedly sent out. It seems like they have no real connection to one another, and (as I said above) they were all published more than a year ago.

    @baustin213,

    Are you using digest notifications?

    No, we’re using per-post notifications.

    @baustin213,

    The only way a per-post notification could be generated for an old post is if that post was moved to a different publication states (like draft of pending review) and then published again. How many content editors are there on your site? Could this have happened?

    There are two editors and, including myself, five administrators. However, there’s not reason any of them would have even logged in to the site on Friday, let alone at 10:30pm on a Friday, and changed the dates on these posts.

    Obviously there’s the possibility that this wasn’t caused by Subscribe2, I’m just trying to look at every angle as to why this would even happen.

    @baustin213,

    It might be wise to have everyone change their passwords and check your site security. Then see when those posts were last modified as a check to see if they were amended around the time of the emails.
