previous entries link not working

  • Ok, I am relatively new to wordpress and am really new to the coding of it so bear with me. I have a blog that display the 3 most current posts on the main page (except for a plugin that I am running that hides one specific category from the main page.) At the bottom of the main page, I have the previous entries link. If i click this link, the URL changes correctly but the page still shows the same 3 most recent posts.     any help to get the previous / next entries links working would be much appreciated.
