Previous Developer Used Appearance Customizer Instead of Child Theme
-
Hello,
I tried searching for this throughout the forums but haven’t found a solution yet. I’m fairly new to developing in WordPress and am trying to help someone with their site.
The original developer for this site styled everything using the “Appearances > Customize” feature rather than modify css within a child theme. Right now, no child theme has been created.
I’m at a point where I need to create a child theme in order to modify additional templates associated with the theme they are using. My issue is I have no idea how to transfer the styles he used from the Customizer into the child theme styles — Or if I need to at all??
We also need to upgrade to the newest version of WordPress and update their theme (they are currently using “X”). I don’t want to move forward in doing so without knowing whether I need to back these styles up or not.
Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. I’m hoping this is a simple fix that I’m just overcomplicating but I don’t want to start something major without getting more insight.
Thank you!
