previous blog post link function is delayed

At the bottom of each post, the “previous post” link is showing, but it not active. Wait a few minutes and it becomes an active link. The “next post” links all work fine. Anyone know what I can do to fix this?

I haven’t messed with any editor coding, did update to latest wp version. Tried emptying cache, also removed plugins one by one to see if they were causing it, changed my theme to see if it was a theme error. None of these produced a hint of results. I don’t know what else to do. Thanks for any help!
