Are you running WordPress in a sub-directory?

Also, this plugin doesn’t create a file that you can see on the server. It’s a “virtual” file.

I think it must be a subdirectory. I’m not sure what the “root” of my site would be. The subdirectory (dictated by my web host) seems somewhat buried: “/h…/s…./public_html/wp-content

Unfortunately when WordPress is run a sub-directory, the plugin won’t work because it can only modify things in that sub-directory. And since the robots.txt must be at the root of the site to be of any value.

Where would the root of the site be?

I checked with my web host. /public_html is my root directory. All WP files are within this directory.
