Preview Image for Non Youtube Videos

If you scroll down the page you’ll see that most have a preview image. These are from youtube. How do I get a preview image from a non youtube site.
These are put in by their embed code and html in wordpress. If you click the link the movies play fine, just having trouble getting a preview image.
