• One of my permalinks is wrongly causing the index page to open in my browser when I save and click “preview” in the block editor. It is only happening when a page is named “poll”. Seems to be a leftover glitch from a deleted poll plugin. I tried a few so I do not know which one. New pages with a different name preview just fine.

Why would this be happening and how can I fix it so I can use the name “poll” again?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Do you have any plugin that may be doing automatic redirection of deleted pages/permalinks to the homepage? I suspect something is redirecting the /poll/ permalink to the homepage. Some SEO plugins do this, but there are also dedicated plugins for this.

Thank you for your reply. The good news is that the problem described has gone away. Based upon your suggestion, I deactivated the XML sitemap plugin, did a preview (successfully), and then reactivated. That might have triggered a reset if that was the problem. Not sure since I did not check beforehand to see if it was still happening. In retrospect I should have, so the exact cause is still uncertain. Might have just worked itself out overnight.
