• As of this morning, whenever I try to preview or update a page or a post on either of my Customizr installs, I get sent to a 404 page. This was happening before the 4.1.10 update and continues to happen after updating. No plugins on either site have been updated in the last week or so. No idea why it just happened today. All other wordpress sites I have are not having this issue as they are on other themes. Anyone else having this issue?

  • Hi Devon,

Would you mind posting the link to your site in question? So that we can offer you with a possible solution.

    Thank you!

Sure, the two sites right now that are doing it are DevonSchreiner.com and LeagueKC.com.

I had the same issue on several of my web-pages – not all of them! I saved the permalinks twice under the WP settings and that solved my problem! I guess this error is related to some of the latest updates. But after saving the permalinks twice everything works well again!
Maybe you have the same issue…. Hope this helps for you too.

Thanks for the reply Kathrin. That was the only suggestion I could find when searching for “404”. I’ve tried doing it a few times, tried again just now. I have even tried changing the permalink settings to other things and nothing works. I still get sent to a 404 if I hit the preview or update buttons.

Do you get this kind of 404 page?

Does it happen also when you disable all your plugins?

Yes that is the same 404 page I see. I tried disabling all the plugins and still have the same issue on both sites. I only have a small list of 4 plugins per site.

DevonSchreiner.com: Akismet, Contact Form 7, Hello Dolly, and Page Links To
LeagueKC.com: Akismet, Hello Dolly, Press This, and WP-Polls

As an additional note, if I switch themes, the issue is resolved. Switch back to Customizr and the issue returns. I’m assuming if I uninstall the theme that all my customization will be lost as well?

Not really as the options saved in the DB aren’t erased when uninstalling, though having a back-up would always make you more safe, whatever happens :).

That’s anyways a really weird issue I’m unable to reproduce :/.

You said it happened even before updating to the latest version right?

So I completely uninstalled the theme, and much to my surprise, I switch to the 2017 theme and the exact same thing was happening. I disabled all the plugins, same thing happening. I’m not sure what is going on.. I have put in a ticket with my hosting company though to see if they can figure anything out. Thank you all so much for your time so far.

Funny that so many people do have this 404-issue with Preview. I do have the very same problem. I changed the permalink-settings to plain and back to “post name” twice.

    I deactivated all plugins

I changed the theme to “Twenty Nineteen”

    Still… instead of a preview of https://michellebruegger.ch/kontakt/ I get a 404-error with an URL like this: https://michellebruegger.ch/?p=3889 (it’s changing)
    https://michellebruegger.ch/kontakt/

I do have that problem since I upgraded about 4 month ago and hoped it would be solved when I ugrade to WP 5.
