    Hello everyone,

I built my site on WordPress a few years ago, making the mistake (in my opinion) of using) a page builder plugin. If this plugin helps a lot at first, I fill my source code phrases in square brackets, for example “[/ vc_column_text] [vc_row_inner] [vc_column_inner width =” 1/2 “] [vc_column_text]”.

Today, I see that Google and other search engines have punished me regarding SEO because it seems they take into account the source code of the plugin, which is irrelevant for SEO. Yoast, which is helping me to optimize my pages, automatically integrates these code phrases.

Is it possible to prevent search engines and Yoast from reading these codes to focus exclusively on the content?

Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hello,

Using a page builder plugin shouldn’t penalize you in the search results. If you’ve crafted great content, Google will still be able to parse and scan your content accordingly.

    Unfortunately, it does.

here is the automatic Yoast Meta Description of a random page:

    [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]History, Technical Sheet and picture[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_column_text]

As you can see, 80% of the caracters is code, and this is not helping. It would help if Yoast could avoid reading codes…

    Hi,

We would like some more information.

    A. Can you confirm you are using the most recent Yoast SEO Premium, v11?

    B. Are all your non-Yoast plugins and themes also updated?

    C. Can you provide a link to the page? We’d like to check that Yoast is working correctly on it.

    Hi,

    A. I am not using the Premium version of Yoast (but the latest version of Yoast for free).

    B. All my plugins and themes are up to date.

    C Here is the link.

    Hi,

Yoast is outputting the right meta description. See image: https://pasteboard.co/Iapul2R.png. If Google is not showing the meta description, can you confirm if you use Fetch as Googlebot that the issue is resolved? This will force Google to update the index. You may need to use it several times. This guide explains more:?https://kb.yoast.com/kb/fetch-as-googlebot/.

Lastly, there is an issue with how the plugin you are using to create the pages and Yoast’s ability to show the right meta description in the Snippet Preview.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We apologize for the trouble you are experiencing with our plugin. A bug report is currently open with our development team for this issue.

If you have further information or would like to follow the progress of the report, you can do that here: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/11805.

We suggest commenting on that you can be kept aware of updates. You may need an account before you can comment.
