Prevent to vote several times

  • Hi,

    I’m testing your plugin (version 1.0.4), and I see that – if I clear cache and cronology on browser – is it possible to vote several times.

    How can avoid it?
    Is it possible to prevent votes by tracking the IP address too?

    Hi,

    Tracking IP addresses to prevent user from voting again is totally possible. I’m considering adding this feature in next versions. But even if we can track IP addresses, users still can change or fake IP address in a few clicks and continue voting.

    It’s impossible to prevent guest user from voting again and the best we can do is making it harder for normal guest user to vote again.

    thanks for your reply. Yes, if I have a dynamic IP I can restart my modem and with the new IP I can vote again, but this could be an obstacle for an user, so the IP tracking could be good…

    Another obstacle I am thinking could be the possibility to vote signing in (registered user).
    It is possible to use your plugin with registered users/signin in?

    Hi,

    Sorry for such a late response. Right now users and guest visitors are totally alike and tracking IP feature not yet added in version 1.0.4. I’m considering adding these in the next version. (I guess it’ll take a while because of my workload, I’ll see what I can do ?? )
