    Hi,

I’m using this plugin to input a large number of products. Some products use the same featured image. I have uploaded the image I’d like to use for the featured image and copied the URL into the CSV file. Unfortunately, when importing the new products, it is creating instances of the original featured image. E.g xxx-1.jpg, xxx-2.jpg, xxx-3.jpg etc.

Is there are way to prevent the thumbnail generation as it seems uninitiative to create copies of the same image over and over.

Thanks for your help. Loving the plugin so far.

  • Hi @blackfrogdesign,

If you are adding an image already existing in the media library, kindly specify the image file name only in the images column instead of full URL to avoid duplication.

You may also refer the documentation link.

    Eg: xxx.jpg

Thanks, the has stopped the multiple instances xxx_1.jpg, xxx_2.jpg etc.

It seems to duplicate the same image filename over and over in the gallery. Not a big issue I guess.

    Thanks for your help.

    Just a note on this.

I’m finding that some of my images are becoming distorted when using the recommend method above.

Has this happened to anyone else?

    Hi @blackfrogdesign,

We haven’t had any such reports so far. If you are having any issue with thumbnail generation, you can use the WooCommerce option to regenerate all shop thumbnails which would be found under WooCommerce>Status>Tools.

Thankyou, i’ll give this a go.

I hope the regenerate is not going to remove images currently in use on the website, only remove the duplicates of the exact same image filename from the Image Library e.g. xxx.jpg, xxx.jpg, xxx.jpg, xxx.jpg, xxx.jpg would become a single instance of xxx.jpg.

    Thanks for your support.

    Hi @blackfrogdesign,

The regenerate thumbnails option is a WooCommerce option to just generate all shop thumbnails. It won’t remove your existing WP media library images.

    Thanks for your message.

I have regenerated the thumbnails but images are still messed up.

This is what I am seeing. Also I have included the original image and distorted image in this image link below:

    https://www.sharpautocare.com.au/wp-content/uploads/image-error.jpg

Each distorted image has the exact same filename as the other. This occurred after adding the image filename into the csv UTF-8 file e.g. xxx.jpg (not https://www.xxxxxx.com.au/wp-content/uploads/xxx.jpg).

Not sure why the image is distorted and why it is creating multiple instances of the same image filename…

    Hi @blackfrogdesign,

As mentioned in the documentation link provided above, the thumbnail entries in the media library is normal as the WP Importer uses a 1:1 relationship with the product and its corresponding image.

Regarding the thumbnail distortion issue, please share us the CSV file via support link here so that we can check it in our test/dev sites.
