Prevent renaming of uploaded images

  • I would like WordPress to NOT rename the images it’s resizing to medium. I don’t want the dimensions in the filename. Is there a way to prevent that from happening?

    For example– I upload the file picture.jpg. It renames it to picture-300×200.jpg

  • I don’t think there is a way this is how WordPress knows which image corresponds to each size.

    If it didn’t rename the images then how would it know which one was the thumb and which was the medium sized image?

    Well, if the thumb was renamed and the medium sized image wasn’t…..
