Prevent Products Being Listed Without Shipping Details

    This may be an odd question, but I would like to know if it is possible to stop a product being published if the shipping fields are empty?

    I ask this because my boss has a habit of listing products without entering weights or dimensions which will pick up the lowest shipping cost in our shipping plugin. Whilst not losing out completely on shipping, it would be useful if it was possible to prevent a product being published without having entered information into the shipping fields before publishing.

    There is no option in WooCommerce core to do this; you would require a plugin or custom coding.

    Since custom coding is outside our scope of support, I am leaving this thread open for a bit to see if anyone can chime in to help you out.

    For customizations, we recommend getting in touch with one of the customization experts listed on the WooCommerce Customizations Page.

    However, I think you could get close to what you want to achieve by putting those products into the same category (you can create one called No shipping fields) and then hiding the category products, using a plugin like Hide Categories and Products for WooCommerce.

    Thanks for the reply, I thought it might be a long shot!

    It’s not mission-critical for us but would be ‘nice to have’ for when the boss forgets to add shipping to a listing he’s made in a hurry!
