    Hello,
Color, Size etc. by search engines like Google. I want to prevent the indexing of filters such as For this, I added the following line to the robots.txt file. However, I’m not sure this is true. Do you have an opinion on this?

    Disallow: /*?*

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Before moving forward, can you please elaborate more? May I ask, what is the reason to prevent the indexing of the filters? Please let us know so that we can point you in the right direction.

I have many products on my website. You know, Google crawls limited pages when it comes to the website. There’s also the term “duplicate content”. This causes the following problems for search engine bots:
1-) Inability to distinguish which content to scan and not
2-) Unable to determine which versions to rank for query results
    …etc

Basically, I want to prevent them from being indexed because of these simplest issues.
    For example,
    filter_size
    filter_color
    filter_…
These should not be indexed. Since there are many attributes, it doesn’t make much sense to write them all directly.
Maybe the following is a solution but I’m not sure:
    Disallow: /*?filter_

    Hey there @loopforever,

Thank you for clarifying further. I understand this is an SEO inquiry, rather than a WooCommerce one.

    Here are a few resources:

Kindly note that there are also specialized plugins, to help out with this.

I trust that points you in the right direction, but if you have more questions, let us know. We’re happy to help.

@anastas10s I hope you understand what you are reading. What do I ask you, what do you answer? You are trying to market your plugin.

    Hello @loopforever,

This forum is for WooCommerce-related topics as mentioned by PEPE, your thread is more of an SEO concern.

Also, Yoast is not owned by Automattic so we’re not trying to sell anything here, these are rather helpful resources. ??

That said when you refer to filters do you mean the archive pages of your product attributes?

If so, you can uncheck this box to remove the attribute’s page when creating one. This way there won’t be a page to hide in the first place.

    Hope this helps!
