Prevent Direct Access – allow everyone to view in browser, but stop direct acces

    Hi – some of the other support tickets have similar questions but not quite this exact scenario. The web site in question is on a private network, there is no membership.
    It uses woocommerce to manage the products (in this case videos) and works as a library of videos. No payment facility on the site, everything is available to everyone who visits.

    I want to prevent direct access to the .MP4 files in uploads folder, whilst allowing all visitors to the site to be able to view the video, just not access the URL directly.

    Does the latest version of PDA achieve this?

    Just to be sure we’re on the same page:

    • You’re running a private site
    • All visitors who access your site can view MP4 files
    • Your MP4 files can’t be accessed directly via its URLs

    If so, it looks possible with our plugins.

    There are a few solutions for you now. To advise you on the most suitable one, may we know:

    1. A sample file URL that you want to protect
    2. Do you embed your videos into content?
    3. Do you also want to protect your videos against downloads?
