• The plugins automatically added the IP of the hosting server of my WordPress site to the permanent blacklist. Other scripts hosted on my server were therefore returned a 403 when trying to fopen a file; I think it could be a good idea to prevent blacklisting host server IP to avoid this kind of problem….

  • Totally agree that should be avoided. To prevent it from happening you could add the host server IP to the permanent whitelist in the Global Settings module. If you decide to do that also make sure the plugin is not configured to register potentially spoofed IPs … (Proxy Detection setting).

To prevent any confusion, I’m not iThemes ??

That’s what I did. I suggest It could be automatically whitelisted.
Not sure to understand the risk of “registering potentially spoofed IPs ” in this case. Could you explain ? thanks

Any automatically whitelisted IP is temporarily whitelisted (max 24 hours). So it’s safest to whitelist the IP permanently.

Have a look at the Proxy Detection setting in the Global Settings module. It’s default set to Automatic. If the site is not behind a proxy change it to Disabled.

Do make sure to be using the latest plugin release (7.2.0 at the time of writing this post). According to the 7.2.0 Changelog:

Enhancement: Allow for selecting the particular Proxy header a server is configured to use. Improve the language to indicate the importance of configuring this setting. H/t Filippo Cavallarin CEO at wearesegment.com
