Prevent all from seeing commenters’ info

Eeeek!
One of my “contributor” level users notified me they can see all commenters’ email and IP addresses!
I know I verified several months back that contributors and authors could NOT see commenters’ information. Do you know if this change resulted from a WP version upgrade?
I have been using the Role Manager Plugin 1.4.4, which is probably the most needed WP plugin that is also the biggest wretch to work with, try to make changes on it and it upchucks errors.
Codex says “edit_posts” capability carries “Manage->Comments” with it as part and parcel?!?! It says something about only being able to edit own posts (do they mean own comments?), which would be ideal to let folks edit their own comments, however I logged into a user at contributor level and nope they can see everyone else’s info!
