• hi-
I wanted to use Pretty Link ( in order to have a placeholder link on my blog that so I can refer it back to another link that isn’t ready yet. I have a WordPress blog and was going to install it there; my website, which is somehow linked to my blog, is not WordPress however (it’s Esosoft).

My assistant went to install it for me and encountered this problem:

“I was able to install it, however it seems that in order for it to work, you’d have to change your permalink structure on your blog which would (without some intervention) break any current external links that go to your blog. It’s one of those things that would have been easy to do before you wrote any posts but now that there are existing posts, it’s more complicated. There are actually good reasons to get this structure changed outside of simply getting this plugin to work, including helping with your SEO: https://www.wpexplorer.com/change-permalinks-wordpress/
That said, I know enough to be able to install and set up the plugin, but I’m not comfortable doing something like this. I’d be worried of messing things up in a big way.”

So I asked the woman who administers my website if she could do it without it messing up the links on my website (I don’t really mind if the links on my blog get messed up as I’m not particularly active with it anyhow) and she said this:

“I’m not 100% sure. If I knew for sure it would only impact the blog, then I would guess that Pretty Links is exactly what would work for what you want to do with the preorder. I just couldn’t get the info from their website or from that page on the wordpress plugin site that would tell me.”

So I am hoping someone here can help me out. I need an answer asap however, as I’m facing a deadline of Friday.

Can we install this onto my WordPress blog and not mess up my Esosoft website?

    Thank you!
