Please post a link to the PowerPress feed you tried submitted to iTunes so we can take a look.

When submitting a feed to the iTunes Store, iTunes checks to make sure the most recent item in the feed has an enclosure link. Enclosures are created by adding podcast media to the feed (audio/video file, PDF, etc.). If the most recent item in your feed doesn’t have a podcast attached, iTunes will reject the feed even if previous items do have podcasts included in them.

podcasts are all the only thing submitted on my site…it’s a podcast website.
The twitter feed is new. Was rejected before adding that widget.

That podcast feed is empty. In order for your media to be added to the PowerPress RSS feed, you have to copy/paste the URL of your media file into the Media URL field inside the Podcast Episode box of the corresponding WordPress entry. Then, click the Verify Media button to ensure the URL is valid and that the file size and duration are added properly. Once that’s done, save the draft to preview the post (if needed) or click the Publish button in WordPress. This will update the feed and add the closure information.

    That actually worked.
WP/PPress does not accept the <iframe> tags to post 500 x 500 audio box so I had to use Libsyn feature to auto post that code which worked. That feature apparently bypasses Ppress link validator when it makes a post.

It’s an extra step, but it solved the problem.

    Thank you.

Your PowerPress feed now has enclosures in it, so you should be all set.

How do you verify media for Soundcloud feeds with powerpress? Soundcloud does not produce a .mp3 link. Is there a workaround for this?

If you’ve paid for the podcast hosting plan with SoundCloud, what you’ll need to do is upload your files there and then look at the RSS feed generated by SoundCloud. That’s the only place you’ll be able to find complete URL’s to your media files. To make this process easier. when you have the SoundCloud RSS feed open in a browser window, use the Edit >> Find command and type “enclosure” (without the quote marks). That should take you directly to where the media files are found in the feed.

Just a heads up, SoundCloud is a managed service, you should use their service exclusively (that’s what they want). Copying the media URLs and using them outside of their ecosystem may work today but may not tomorrow. The way their media URLs are structured, they can change without notice, requiring you to go back an update the URLs where you use them outside of their environment.

Trust me I want you to use our plugin, but I just want to be honest with you of the possible pitfalls specifically with SoundCloud.

Oof….I started on Soundcloud free service, then moved to libsyn, but for comparable $$, Soundcloud offered unlimited upload/download with more stats, So I closed libsyn and moved back to Cloud.

Truth is, older episodes don’t get traffic anyway, so we’ll see how the wind blows.

I hope when you move off SoundCloud (I have a feeling you will be in the coming months) you will consider Blubrry over libsyn. Migration is free, you get a lot of other features included for free at Blubrry as well, same features at Libsyn are extra charges. I think if you add things up you’ll find Blubrry’s $12/month plan is a bargain.

your $12/mo plan wouldn’t cover 2 episodes, unfortunately

How big are your episodes and how many do you make a month?
