• It’s a solid plugin. Here’s what it needs to get 5 stars:

? Better tax functionality. In Canada, food items are non-taxible…but the shipping still needs to be taxed.
? Combos – the ability to place a combination of products on sale together vrs. making a whole new product.
? Restrict product availability to certain regions. Allow customers to state their location or use location permissions to determine customer location and then restrict product offering.
? Ability to run two store fronts from the same inventory.

Otherwise it is a solid, dependable, and well documented plugin. It keeps getting better every month. Worth the money.

  • Hi,

Thank you for the feedback, we appreciate that. We will keep in mind the points we need to improve in the plugin.

One comment on the last suggested change:
    > Ability to run two store fronts from the same inventory.

That’s actually one of the core Ecwid’s features – you can have as many storefronts as you want and manage them all from single control panel. In addition to the store page on your WordPress site, you can place your store or a single product widgets on:
    – any other page on your site
    – any other site that allows you to put a few lines of code into it, e.g. Joomla, Drupal, Wix, Yola, Weebly, any custom-made web site
    – a page on Facebook. You can put your store on Facebook and sell your products there
    – eBay
    – POS

The storefronts will be synchronized automatically so you won’t have to manually keep them up to date.

Let me know if you want to know more about any of those features.

    Thanks.

    Hey @makfruit,

Thanks for your response! I’m glad you followed up.
While I appreciate (and use) the functionality you’ve outlined, I am looking to be able to manage a separate store front with different tags and categories for each store based on customer location.

    For example:

I am a food retailer and I have my inventory managed through ecwid. However, I have an online store specifically selling BBQ products nationally, and another store that is only available in a single province. I don’t want the local store to show any of the nationally available products, and I need to be able to manage taxes and shipping on the national store side that don’t interfere with local options. Does that make sense? Am I missing something in the current settings?

As I said, this product is super solid and I love it. I just wish I should manage 2 separate store fronts with the ability to manage visibility on a customer location level.

    k.

    Hi,

Thanks for the clarification. I see now.

Yeah, with those requirements in mind, it would be best to have separate stores managed under one account. While it’s not possible, I can only recommend creating two separate Ecwid accounts and using them on different sites.

    Thanks
