I have a site at https://souliloquy.com I run WordPress 4.7 and all my plugins and themes are up to date. The current theme is WP Invictus 1.3 I’m working with a MacBookPro 2011 with 16gb Ram and Mac OS 10.12.2

Recently, out of the blue, when I post something using PressThis, I get an error message when the page opens:

Warning: CURL failed to execute on URL “/delete?q=id%3Apost_2820” in /home/hawcroft/public_html/souliloquy.info/wp-content/plugins/opensearchserver-search/lib/oss_abstract.class.php on line 177

I can ignore the message and all proceeds as it should.

However, it bothers me that this is happening and I wonder if anyone can give me some idea what I might do. Should I contact WordPress, PressThis, the Theme owner or what?

I apolgise if I’ve picked the wrong place to ask. I am not very IT literate. I can follow instructions but don’t have the IT “brain”.

I’d appreciate any help or advice anyone can give.

    Thank you,

    roger

It appears the error is actually with the “opensearchserver-search” plugin. However, the root cause could be somewhere else. To confirm this plugin is at fault, deactivate all other plugins and switch to one of the default twenty* themes. If you still get this error when you use PressThis, then that plugin is the problem and you should contact its author.

If the error goes away, switch back to your normal theme, then reactivate your plugins, all one by one. Test after each change. When the error recurs, the last activated entity is the problem and you should contact that item’s author.

@bcworkz Thank you for the prompt response. I will follow your advice and see if it cures the problem, then send another response.

@bcworkz – Sorry for the delay in response. After further investigation I discovered that WordPress has now incorporated the “press this” plugin into WordPress itself. The plugin now evidently does nothing.
I followed the WordPress instructions for activating the new built-in WordPress feature and all has worked well since then. The incorporation has also included a couple of extra features that were not in the original plugin.
However, I really do appreciate that you promptly and in readable language attempted to assist a relative novice. I thank you for that and wish you and yours a pleasant festive season. Thank you again – you are the sort of person we need on forums such as this.

And thank you for your kind thoughts, as well as the update on the PressThis plugin status. Somehow it didn’t register in my brain that you were using the plugin. I regret not fully grasping your situation. Unfortunately, this happens a lot, it can’t be helped in many cases. At least you were able to work out the issue, nice work!

    Enjoy the Holidays
