• Hi,

I’m having a little problem with file name, I rename all my files carefully with proper case and others as required, However while uploading these files via media gallery they get renamed and make the title look ugly. For eg.

I upload a file with name “This is a File.jpg” and the auto title shown to me is “this-is-a-file” so I have to again make changes here. I upload 100’s of images everyday and this feature is causing problems.

Can someone help me with preserving the file names as they are and nothing extra is included. This will save lot of my time.

    Thank You.

    PS: Using 2.7

    Hi

Putting files on the web with spaces in their name is not a very good idea, also mixed case file names are not a good idea.

Even if WP did not insert the hyphens, the name would be encoded as This%20is%20a%20File.jpg

There are free programs you can find on Google that do bulk file renames, in case you want to change the name of loads of your files. You can use them to replace the spaces with some other character.

For files on the web, use only regular keyboard letters, numbers, dashes, and underscores. Do not use spaces, symbols, or punctuation.
