Present different blog, for different geographic location

  • Hey,

    I’m currently running a blog in Norwegian for my norwegian fans which is running fairly successful, however, I’d like to expand my content to my international audience by setting up a blog in English.

    My question is this:

    Is it possible for me to have Norwegian users see the Norwegian version, while people outside of Norway will see the English version of this page?

    I’m going to put up a flag icon in the top corner of the webpage where people may choose – but this geographic seperation of viewers would be very helpful.

    Any help and input would be much appreciated and provide you with a new Norewgian friend ??

  • The BBC seems to be able to do that to restrict certain streaming radio programmes to UK listeners. Maybe they interrogate their readers’ IP addresses, but I doubt that would be foolproof.

    Thanks for your response. Interesting… Yse, I’ve seen this done on other major webpages.

    Also it’s not nessecary to restrict access in anyway, only present the relevant (english) content for my english visitors – and Norwegian version for Norwegain visitors.

    Maybe you could use cookies to remember language preference for subsequent visits.
