Pre-sale questions: Is WordPress right for my site?

    I have a website that features Detroit’s local bands and venues from the 80’s. The site was built primarily in FrontPage and has grown to several thousand pages. Every band and venue was entered by hand and there is no dynamic content. Here’s my current site:

    Key features I’m looking for:

    1. The ability to allow users to register and log-in to site, then select their favorite bands and venues. Their favorites would appear in the “Band Updates” area on the right side of the page when they log in.

    2. A Contribution page that allows a user to upload photos, band/venue information, audio/video clips, etc. to be added to the website. Further, an approval page that would allow an administrator to review the information and approve. Upon clicking “approve” the new information would automatically formatted and be stored in the appropriate location on the server, and viewable by all users.

    3. I want to maintain the basic look and feel of the current site as much as possible.

    Thoughts?

    Yeah, what you should do is install and test it on a subdomain or something, give it a shot, there are a ton of plugins that can allow such things, like Buddypress for profiles etc, it all depends on coding and plugins.
