    Also, I stumbled upon this theme which looks to be fast, even slightly faster than GP when I tried it on my staging site https://github.com/wplemon/gridd

    What exactly are you trying to do with that code? In GP, the #header element they’re targeting can be changed to #masthead. Not sure if that will work as is, but it’s worth a shot.
