Compliments on a great plugin Daan. Well done!

We are seeing this warning in the Chrome Developer Tools console…

The resource https://xxxxx.com/wp-content/cache/caos-webfonts/fonts.css was preloaded using link preload but not used within a few seconds from the window’s load event. Please make sure it has an appropriate as value and it is preloaded intentionally.

Is there something you can do at the plugin side to avoid this error?

    Many thanks!

    Hi Herby @zagenie!

    Let’s see,

Are you using a minification plugin, such as Autoptimize or W3TC?

Are the fonts actually used on the page you are viewing?

Thanks for the prompt response Daan. Appreciated.

We use Fast Velocity Minify. I see there are these settings related to Google Fonts..

Choose how to include Google Fonts on your pages, when available:
    – Inline Google Fonts CSS [ Will inline the woof format only (with font hinting) ]
    – Async Google Fonts CSS files [ Will use preload with LoadCSS polyfill ]
    – Async and exclude Google Fonts CSS from PSI [ Will use JavaScript to load the fonts conditionally ]

I tried all three options, but the warning message remains.

Yes, the Google Fonts are used on all pages of the website. On that note, we use the Divi theme. In the Options we can disable or enable Google Fonts. We tried both and the warning remains.

If you have further insights into what must be set in Fast Velocity Minify and/or Divi theme to make the warning go away, that would be appreciated.

Alternatively, any other clues as to what is causing the warning.

    Many thanks!

PS I have tried with the standard WordPress Twenty Nineteen theme. The warning remains.

Hence, we can focus on Fast Velocity Minify. If you have a moment to experiment with the compatability of FVM and OMFG, that would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, so here’s what you do:

    – In Divi, Disable Google Fonts: OMGF is already loading them for you.
    – Fast Velocity Minify, doesn’t matter what you choose there, it will not influence anything, but…
    – Since you’re using a minification plugin, the stylesheet generated by OMGF is merged with other files. That’s why it doesn’t make sense to use preload for the fonts.css file, because the file is never loaded. It’s merged with something else.

So, disable OMGF’s preload setting and you’re good to go.

Ah, I forgot that I enabled that experimental option.

    All is well now.

Great support Daan. The way it should be… and on a Sunday to boot!
