When I try to update my profile or edit a user I get the following error:

Warning: preg_match() expects at least 2 parameters, 1 given in /customers/…/wp-includes/formatting.php on line 1541 Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /customers/…/wp-includes/formatting.php:1541) in /customers/…/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 897

I also noticed that my changes or updates are actually saved even though this is the only thing that is returned.

I am using extra user fields but even if I disable them I still get the same error.

    Any suggestions?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Thanks esmi, the plugin reset did the trick.
