    This started showing up as an issue on 2/26/2024 for our website. We did a bunch of plugin updates on 2/20/2024, most notably:
    Google Listings and Ads 2.5.15 –> 2.5.18
    WooCommerce 8.3.1 –> 8.6.1
    WordPress 6.4.2 –> 6.4.3
    Asset CleanUp Pro 1.2.4.7 –> 1.2.4.8
    Perfmatters 2.2.3 –> 2.2.4

    Got a notification last night that Google was taking all of our product listings down because they weren’t consistently correct for stock status. A quick check confirms that what is in Google Merchant Center isn’t correct for some of our items where the stock status has changed.

    I went through the disconnect all your accounts and reconnected going back through effectively the setup process for our Google Merchant Center account in the Google Listings and Ads plugin. Ran into an issue with the token not found to authenticate the account, and was able to get around that by turning off a frontend block I had for Google Listings and Ads via Asset Cleanup Pro. We’ve had that block on for well over a year without issue, so not sure why it’s all of the sudden an issue, but reconnected after that and it doesn’t seem like things are working still while checking the logs.

    Getting a ton of these in the Google Listings and Ads logs under WooCommerce –> Status –> Logs
    Automattic\WooCommerce\GoogleListingsAndAds\MerchantCenter\MerchantStatuses::filter_valid_statuses A Google ID was not found in Merchant Center.

    I keep checking the first product that shows up in Google Merchant Center where it says in Merchant Center “In Stock” but it’s clearly out of stock, and nothing has changed to update it. Not sure if I’m missing something with forcing some kind of full resync or what else I should be trying here as there’s not much left for options after having reconnected all accounts and reconfiguring the plugin settings.

    I’ll note that I also did updates today after discovering the issue in hopes of the Google Listings and Ads update having a fix for the issue. So notable updates done today 2/27/2024 were:
    Asset CleanUp Pro 1.2.4.8 –> 1.2.4.9

    As a first step of action, I’d recommend resetting the Google Listings and Ads connection, then reconnecting to see if this will help effect any changes.

    You can follow these steps below:

    – Go to YourDomain/wp-admin/admin.php?page=connection-test-admin-page
    – Do a click on the following buttons:
    – MC Disconnect
    – Disconnect Google Account
    – Disconnect Jetpack

    Next, go to?Marketing > Google Listings & Ads?and go through the connection process again.

    I had done the “Disconnect from all accounts” option per my original message around the topic to force a reconnection of everything and to redo the plugin settings.

    The challenge is, there’s no clear way that I’ve seen so far to just test the actual connection to ensure that products are now updating correctly via the API connection rather than only being corrected upon a web crawl. My one sample product I was keeping an eye on is correct today for stock status, but unfortunately it’s because of a web crawl rather than the API. It would be nice if I could test a product individually and force it over via the API for an update. So maybe the reconnection of everything yesterday fixed stuff, but there’s no obvious way to see it, and because of the action taken against my account to preemptively ban all of my listings, every single item is now unavailable. Yet there’s no option to ask for a review of my connection or anything to have Google re-check my account to get rid of this preemptive ban I’m under for the issues caused by the plugin updates. At some level, it would also be nice if we could get some kind of warning about connection issues so we can avoid these bans all together by being made aware of an issue and possible ways to reconnect and fix them. Why make people’s businesses suffer and lose business simply because of a lack of any warning that there was an issue with the API connection. Clearly that’s where the issue was, and clearly something like that can be easily mitigated programmatically.

    The logs still show a lot of the whole “A Google ID was not found in Merchant Center”, but that doesn’t necessarily mean there’s a connection issue either. Coupled with the “This has been disabled” for the URL you wanted me to use, I have my hands pretty well tied behind my back while my business suffers in the process. While this is a free plugin, it’s also one maintained by WP/WooCommerce and Google, meaning the companies that all primarily benefit from having people host their businesses on WooCommerce whilst utilizing Google Merchant Center have a vested interest in making sure it works without issue. Yet I don’t see where anything has been done programmatically to ensure we detect issues before they become real issues like I’m facing now with no clear path to move forward.

    The error message you get when reviewing that page could be due to another plugin interfering with it, maybe a cache or security plugin or any plugin that modifies the WP Admin. I see from your System Status Report there are 54 active plugins on your site.

    You can consider using a plugin like?Health Check & Troubleshooting to temporarily disable all other plugins except WooCommerce and Google Listings & Ads so you can check the test connection page.

    It’s Perfmatters that was blocking that URL from working. It’s a production site, so I loathe the requests to “just disable everything on your site so everything is broken for your customers”.

    I’m not sure what to look for here to ensure things are updating so that I can get the preemptive ban removed. I ran the Check MC Status and it responded with Status 200 and “Connected”. Not sure if Perfmatters being enabled changes any of these statuses. Pretty much the only settings in Perfmatters are to change the admin login URL so the default WP login URL doesn’t get spammed to death, and to do lazy loading of things. Most of the unloads are all done by Asset CleanUp Pro. Am I to assume that the MC status check is effectively a test of the API connection to Google Merchant Center?

    I’m going to run the sync all products with Google Merchant Center now. I found an obscure github thread about the async option there and it had said to toggle it. So I chose the async option even though nothing explains the point of it vs not having it ticked.

    Response was “Successfully scheduled a job to sync all products!”. But again, even after that’s complete, how do we ensure Google will lift the preemptive ban? I feel okay asking that here since this plugin is also managed by Google and it’s a very valid question given the circumstances of what randomly happened to disconnect without any warning the API feed that once worked without issue for well over a year until the recent updates applied.

    Requested review failed to identify it has been fixed which indicates despite all of the successful connection tests done at /wp-admin/admin.php?page=connection-test-admin-page, that the issue is still there somewhere.

    We do not have any caching plugins nor any security plugins installed on the website.

    I re-enabled Perfmatters previously, and yet I have no issues accessing that connection test page this time around with the plugin enabled.

    One of the products that isn’t properly synced shows up in the logs with the below.

    2024-03-02T03:03:27+00:00 Debug Automattic\WooCommerce\GoogleListingsAndAds\Product\BatchProductHelper::validate_and_generate_update_request_entries Skipping product (ID: 270961) because it is not ready to be synced.

    When I look at that particular item in the product feed for the plugin, its Channel Visibility is set to “Sync and Show” but it’s status is “Disapproved” so it’s as if because it was disapproved on Google’s side, we can’t update it via the API. Makes it incredibly difficult to fix stuff if the status is set by Google to not allow it to be updated with the API if that is indeed what is happening here.

    I also have no idea what this function does, but it sounds less extreme than “Delete All Synced Products”. So I ran the “Cleanup All Products” function with the “async” box ticked, though none of these things are explained in the documentation online for the plugin.

    Additionally, share a screenshot of the page where you see the Channel Visibility set to Sync and Show, and its status is marked as Disapproved.
    This can help me understand why that particular product isn’t being synced properly.

    Lastly, could you please go to WooCommerce → Status → Scheduled Actions in your dashboard and check for any entries that have a Failed status? This might give me some insight into whether there are underlying issues with scheduled tasks.

    There are some failed scheduled actions for sure. In the past 72 hours, some related to ATUM, a few more generic ones I don’t know if they pertain specifically to a plugin or just Woo core:

    A few related to GLA:
    gla/jobs/update_products/process_item

    Though the failed scheduled actions doesn’t account for my previous post where I pointed out that this particular item is being skipped by GLA according to the logs. So not a failed action, but an intentional skip of the product because it’s disapproved is the way I’m reading the logs. “Because it is not ready to be synced” sounds like a deliberate action by GLA, not a failed scheduled action.

    I have reviewed the product page and screenshots you shared.
    Everything appears to be in order and I do not see a reason that should affect the product at GMC feed.

    The Preemptive bans usually show the reason for example Preemptive item disapproval (availability) Or Preemptive item disapproval (price). But that does not seem to be the case either.

    Could you please check the Issues to resolve section in the Product Feed tab and check for any specific reason provided?

    Furthermore, I recommend posting this issue on the Google Ads community page. It is possible that a similar issue happened to someone else too. This will help us pinpoint the issue and come up with a solution.

    I’m going admit this response is disappointing. We started out talking about the reason for the ban even though it did get truncated by the title limit. It is because of availability. You can see the beginning of the word in the title before it got truncated, and I’ve been pointing out the issue with the inventory not matching throughout my responses. Google is correct that the inventory is incorrect, which is caused by the API sync issue with the plugin.

    From the logs, it’s the plugin not allowing the products to update at this point as best as I can tell, which nobody has addressed that point I keep bringing up about the logs saying the product isn’t syncing “because it is not ready to be synced”. I don’t know what the initial issue was, but the ongoing issue at this point is the API not getting an update from the plugin. The plugin logs seem pretty obvious to me that the issue is the plugin won’t update the product if it’s disapproved.

    The account issue affecting all products is:
    Preemptive item disapproval enabled for policy or data violation: inaccurate availability status (due to inconsistent availability status between the feed and the landing page)

    Posting the issue in the Google Ads Community will be pointless since it’s clear it’s the plugin not syncing the products and from what I can tell, it’s deliberate at this point based on the logs indicating so.

    From what I gather, the Jellycat Sammie Snowman product is an example, for showcasing an issue with the inventory sync, between the site, and Google Merchant Center.

    Furthermore, from the site’s System Status Report (SSR), it appears another Google Ads plugin is installed.

    Nevertheless, I am reading disconnection and reconnection of the Google Listings & Ads plugin took place.

    Important to note: the steps to disconnect Google Listings & Ads are detailed in the documentation section, linked here.

    From there:

    When disconnecting:

    Any active product listings will continue to display on Google. They can be managed, edited, or deleted manually via Google Merchant Center.

    Additionally, when plugins and extensions are removed in WordPress, data can often be left behind in the site’s database. To?fully?delete all data?related to Google Listings & Ads, you can?define a constant?in the?wp-config.php?file. This constant needs to be added?before?the extension is deleted.

    Note that this only works once the extension is deleted from your WordPress site,?not?when it is simply deactivated.

    Could you please verify these steps were taken, at any point in time so far, thus resulting in starting with a clean slate for the ~35 thousand products (products + variations, per SSR) that need to sync as expected to Google Merchant Center, or otherwise?

    I’m doing a clean install based on the addition of the constant while deleting the plugin. It was not done previously as I had followed the steps provided in a similar post where the only thing requested to be done was the disconnection of the accounts and the reset up of those accounts in the Google Listings and Ads plugin.

    There is no other Google Listings / Merchant Center plugin on our site. What you’re likely referencing is a plugin that is 1. disabled, and 2. not relevant to any sort of data feed in any way, shape, or form. This is a moot point.

    The challenge that was never addressed was that of the plugin refusing to push an update via the API feed for products with a disapproved status. And I’ll reiterate that if that is indeed what was happening to prevent those specific products from updating on Google Merchant center, then that needs to be addressed by the developers. You can’t work with Google Merchant center via an API feed and block updates to items that are disapproved. That would obviously prevent Google Merchant Center from ever receiving the necessary product updates to request a review to remove the disapproval/preemptive ban status. And so far with nobody addressing this point and the language of the plugin logs seemingly indicating that those products in question are being purposely avoided with the API feed updates by the plugin, this appears to be the primary issue with getting things fixed without having to blowup the entire feed to do so, which appears to be the only real suggestion to fix these issues is to “just delete everything and start over”.

    There is an absolute programmatic need within both Google Merchant Center, and this plugin to send out an email or message in the WP Dashboard that there is an issue with the API sync. One shouldn’t have to find out after they’ve been banned that there were ongoing issues with the sync after plugin updates.
