Is it possible to pre-authorize a payment with woocommerce payment? That is, withholding a sum as collateral?

    ?? hey @elenact

Thank you for reaching out about this. Happy to help!

Is it possible to pre-authorize a payment with woocommerce payment? That is, withholding a sum as collateral?

Just to be sure, could you elaborate further on the specific steps the customer would have to follow, for placing such an order at the site?

Moreover, to clarify, would another plugin be responsible for pre-authorizing a purchase at the store, and WooPayments would need to be compatible with it, or otherwise?

We look forward to your response. In the meantime, please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

The website in question allows you to purchase a vouchers for a dinner at a restaurant and does so with woocommerce Payments. Through the website I can also book a dinner, but it could happen that the customer does not show up at the restaurant. I would therefore like those who book a dinner to enter their credit card in a form so that I can block an amount in a symbolic way as a guarantee (a bit like what is done in hotels), to be certain of the customer. If the customer doesn’t come, I keep the amount as a late payment.

    Hi @elenact,

    Thanks for sharing further details.

Unfortunately, WooPayments does not have this feature built-in. However, you can achieve this by using an additional plugin like WooCommerce Partial Payments or Deposits & Partial Payments for WooCommerce.

I wish I could help more, but hopefully, this gets you going in the right direction to get the job done.
