My images are recorded as a custom-post-type’s value, for instance
    portfolio_image has value domain.com/image.jpg
    so I have 2 questions:
    1) can this plugin read that value and make it featured image?
    2) are such images stored in media library or not?

    Hi, @arsenalemusica.

    1) yes
    2) no, just the URL will be stored

I thank you for your reply. I installed the plugin and later today I’ll give you the ratings you rightly deserve.
I need some little extra help though. I have inserted the custom-post-types allowed by the plugin, but I was hoping that it would read the post’s value and insert it in the metabox automatically. It looks like I need to do it manually but my site has thousands of entries so that’s unthinkable.
Am I missing some settings, or maybe an extra PHP function is needed? Please advice.

I think I cannot use this plugin because it generates another custom-post-type. Sad.

    Hi, @arsenalemusica.

You said “I have inserted the custom-post-types allowed by the plugin”. Sorry, what do you mean here?

I mean the max 5 allowed custom-post-types, in settings ??

And what are your Custom Post Types?

    Thread Starter anonymized-14293447

    (@anonymized-14293447)

I have simple ones, like portfolios, events, jobs,…
Each one has got a key portfolio_image and a value domain.com/image.jpg
But when I manually insert the URL of the image (which I was hoping to be automatic) your plugin creates a new custom field key + value in each post, i.e. fifu_image_url + domain.com/image.jpg

Are you talking about “Auto Set Featured Image” setting?

I tried that first option to use first image in content, but my posts have no image in the content, i.e. the image is hotlinked by users using a frontend form. So the plugin doesn’t see an image in the content to show.
See screenshot to understand what I want to achieve.

If you intend to use Auto Set Featured Image setting to publish from frontend, you need of course to have an image in content once the plugin doesn’t know your custom fields.

I understand that about Auto Set. But again, I was hoping the plugin automatically recognized already existing custom-fields adding their values to the featured-image metabox, instead of creating a new custom-field (fifu_image_url).
It’s too bad because i use WpAllImport and this plugin sounded like my perfect solution.

But you can use fifu_image_url with WP ALL IMPORT.

yes my friend ?? but I don’t like the fact that it creates a new custom-post-type. It wouldn’t be a big deal in normal circumstances but, believe it or not, my theme is very sensitive to custom-post-types and the whole system would just have messy behaviours if I just create new or modify existing ones.
I’m giving you a good review anyway.

Actually FIFU doesn’t create any Custom Post Type. It create a Custom Field. The concepts are very different.
