• Hi,

I would like to make my site so that I can create login and passwords for a certain group of people myself. But the part that gets in the way is the email address required field.

My scenario would be to give a person (by hand) an invite login and password, then they would logon and finish registration to enter their email address to access the site.

Is there a plugin to do this? I am trying to find the right keywords to search this sort of thing.

  • I believe you can simply make the new accounts with bogus e-mail addresses such as [email protected] and so on, then tell your invitees to change their e-mail addresses to actual ones after logging in the first time. And if you would like to do that a little more neatly, make Forwarders for those addresses at your host so any mail sent to them before they get changed will come to you and remind you of each address needing changed.

And what if the supposed “bogus email addresses” actually exist? Then automated emails containing logins would be sent out to complete strangers.

And what if the supposed “bogus email addresses” actually exist?

I know what addresses do or do not exist at my domain, and mysite.com was intended to represent that.

    Thank You,

After further searching, I did find something in case someone else wanted to use this plugin, its called CM Invitation Codes. It works just as I wanted. You can create a code and how many times it can be redeemed, then when you give it to someone, they will register and it can be email activated or admin activated or even auto activated.
    Cool Huh!

    Good for you!
