Pre-Purchase: Reviews, Stars, Carousel, Member Directory

    I have a question about your features. I see that someone else asked pre-purchase about reviews last year (2019) and you answered that it “was not a very requested feature”. Yet you have it on your own website: a carousel of reviews with stars. That tells me that you do understand just how important reviews and testimonials are to selling a product. (And my member listings will each be a “product” in the form of a service vendor.)

    I want almost exactly what you have on your pro page: the ability to leave reviews and stars for each member listed in the directory (on their profile page) and to be able to manually enter some of those reviews in a testimonial carousel on the home page.

    I already have a good plugin for testimonial carousels, but I would absolutely require a way to leave feedback/reviews/stars on each member’s profile. This would have to be tied in some way to customer email addresses (the same way WooCommerce does it), so that only bona fide customers could leave reviews. (Or, at the very least, reviews would require moderation before being published.) Even if this was accomplished by an email link or form sent to the customers after their purchase, that would be acceptable.

    This feature is a deal-breaker for me. I’m planning a directory of service vendors who all sell the same services (not a church or staff directory). New visitors to the site have to have a way to determine each individual’s style/quality besides just reading the sales profiles that they wrote for themselves.

    Can you think of a way this could be accomplished?

    It still is not; you would be only the second request in this year’s time (there could maybe one other, but I do not remember any other of hand).

    I may add support at some point as I have been working on improving Entry discovery in the directory by adding support for related Entries, nearby Entries, and recently viewed Entries. I’m presently working on user Entry favoriting and most viewed Entries. Adding social proof, such as reviews, would be a natural extension of these features, but I can not offer any real ETA as to when such a feature will be added, sorry.

    The only near term workaround would be to manually put the reviews in the bio or notes fields and take reviews using a Gravity Form (or similar), but that would be an inefficient way to manage many reviews. However, if the reviews only came in once in a while, that would be manageable.
