I have the Powerpress plugin installed on my site (I can see it in the plugins folder when viewing the site via FTP) – but it is not showing up in my list on the Plugins page.

I’ve tried deleting the cache using WP Super Cache, as suggested somewhere else, but this does not help.

As a result (at least I think the two things are connected, they may not be), the Powerpress player is not showing up on the webpages for individual podcast episodes.

thanks in advance for any help

How did you install the plugin? Did you manually upload it via FTP or did you install it thru the WordPress dashboard?

Hi Shawn – thanks for your reply… I installed it through the WordPress dashboard – the plugin worked fine for a couple of years, but then suddenly was not in the plugin list any more…

    Thanks

This type of problem is typical of a conflict somewhere within your WordPress installation. Some troubleshooting ideas:
1.) Ensure core WordPress, your theme, and all plugins are up to date and clear *any* caching plugins/services you may be using with your site

    If problem persists:
2.) Switch to a default WordPress theme like the 2017 theme, if PowerPress becomes available again, then you know the problem is with your theme and you should contact the theme developer for help

    If that doesn’t help:
3.) Deactivate all plugins and see if PowerPress becomes available, if it does, reactivate all of your plugins one at a time, and if PowerPress disappears after a plugin reactivation, then you know the last plugin you activated is causing a conflict and you should contact that plugin’s developer for assistance

    Hello @csquirrel,

I took a look at your site, it does not appear PowerPress plugin is enabled. If it is enabled and you have the default settings configured, the https://www.ethancrane.com/feed/podcast/ URL on your website would load a podcast feed (XML). Currently it loads a webpage, a redirect to https://www.ethancrane.com/podcast-release/, which makes sense as WordPress will try to find the page with the word podcast in it if the page/feed does not exist. WordPress tries to guess the page the visitor wanted in this case if the page in question does not exist.

If PowerPress is enabled in your wp-admin / plugins page but you do not see https://www.ethancrane.com/feed/podcast/ load an RSS feed (XML) but instead redirect to a page, contact your web hosting service immediately as something very strange is going on.

Also you can go to PowerPress in the left menu of your WordPress navigation then select under PowerPress “Tools”, there is an option in there near the bottom called “Diagnostics”, it will give you some information about the server, which may also help with this situation.

    Thanks,
    Angelo

Also I just read you said “plugin list any more”, if that is the case, please re-install then enable. That would explain the problem, if the plugin is not enabled you will not have any of the PowerPress functions working on your site.

Thanks Shawn and Angelo for your help… in the end the solution was to delete the Powerpress plugin via FTP and then reinstall (as WP wouldn’t let me reinstall with the files on the server). For some reason most of the Powerpress plugin files were missing, no idea why.

But everything back working again now…

    Thanks again…
