Powerpoint slide does not display

  • I uploaded a small powerpoint file via the WordPress dashboard (Edit Page, Add Media) which placed the file in my website’s assets folder, and provided a clickable link on my webpage. When I click the link, it displays garbage.

    I have WordPress 3.5.1, no plugins and a theme by Automattic (which is a creation of the WordPress staff). I tried clearing my browser cache and cookies, then working on a different computer and network. The Codex and what I’ve seen in the support forums indicate that WordPress supports Powerpoint. How can I get this to work?
