• Overall this app is not bad. It was fairly easy to setup – took me about 1.5 hours. But if you are entry level and looking for something that will scale with your brand this is not the one for you. The free features are not listed anywhere easily to find and just seemed like a gotcha every time I tried to look or add features. Pretty user friendly except for the issues that I will talk about later in this review. 2 stars because the gotchas and hidden features with the free version. Basically all the features are displayed but when you click boom, “You must have this feature” to use this. Very shady way to sell software. Either have it or hide it. Be up front with what you are including.

    Pros:
    Good looking
    Feature full (Few free features)
    Easy to set up
    Great communication with support/sales

    Cons:
Very few free features – almost non at all
    Paid entry level is $13.95/month

Rochelle was very responsive to email communication and overall that was the best part about this app. She enabled some features to let me try them. It would be nice if the free version was full featured up to X number of registrants. I will not likely be using this app because I feel tricked into buying it and cannot justify the price tag for my small blog. If it was more scaliable in the future I might come back and give it another look.

Edit 2-27-18: Due to the passive-aggressive response below, my opinion of this company and their product has been reduced even more.

    Hi @mbgadam,

    Thanks for trying us out.

Sorry you had trouble finding the entry methods and features available in your Free plan. It’s listed right in our pricing page.
    But here’s a summary…..
    Entry Methods:
Effortless entry – name and email address
    Facebook suggested like entry
    Website visit entry
    Retweet entry
    Features:
    Unlimited contests
    Prizes / winners
    Prize images
    Randomly pick winner(s)
    Prize claim website
    Style
    Responsive mobile friendly layouts
    Contest images
    Use of preview editor
    Color picker
    Choose your font

As for hiding upgradable paid features – it would be a disservice to not show all the features available with the software, although I do understand how you would have been frustrated attempting to add features to your contest which is why our customer service agent Rochelle added them to your plan as a bonus.
We do have a referral program that will unlock free features – but unfortunately it’s not available for self referral as you’ve discovered.
Thanks for giving our customer service agent props – Rochelle is one of the best in the business and available to help you create your first contest free of charge. It’s unfortunate that you didn’t take advantage of that offer – most people create a contest in about 30 minutes rather than the 1.5 hours you experienced.
Regardless – we’re available for any other suggestions, questions or comments at [email protected] and if you’re looking for some contest strategies or inspiration to grow your site, be sure to check out our blog.

    Cheers,
    RF

As far as the link you refenced it mentions nothing of the features included in the free version. The whole experience has made me feel like I have been dealing with a used car salesman. I get the feeling that this is all about an upsell and not about having a product that is so good that people want to pay for it.

As for hiding features, that would never be a disservice. Millions of software companies hide features that are not available given the version. The only reason that you do this is to upsell and force someone to pay, even when they are demoing your product. As a user I don’t like looking through software getting the impression that this is feature rich, only to find out at the last moment when you click “Pay us more money.”

I am not the person that wants everything handed or done for me, so yeah it took me a lot longer to setup my campaign. But I was able to gain experience and leave an honest review based on my experience. A review that you took offense to and were passive-aggressive and condescending. Your response confirms my feelings and impressions.

On the link mentioned by Rewards Fuel (https://rewardsfuel.com/pricing) at the top of the page says:
Besides our free plan, we have three premium plans to choose from.

If you click that link, you can see all the free features. Furthermor, Rewards Fuel also show you this summary:

    Entry Methods:
Effortless entry – name and email address
    Facebook suggested like entry
    Website visit entry
    Retweet entry
    Features:
    Unlimited contests
    Prizes / winners
    Prize images
    Randomly pick winner(s)
    Prize claim website
    Style
    Responsive mobile friendly layouts
    Contest images
    Use of preview editor
    Color picker
    Choose your font

@megachrono, Websites change, glad they are learning something.

I just came across this looking for something to help with a giveaway I wanted to do, not something I would do very often. I wanted to update that the link to the “Free Plan” listed in the comment above does not give any information about a free plan, it just links to the paid plans comparison page. Nowhere on that page does it state anything having to do with a free plan, or that one is even available. this i’m afraid is a blatant attempt at misleading. It’s fine if you don’t want to offer a free plan, a lot of the big companies out there don’t…but don’t offer one, talk about it, provide links etc, and only provide the info to sell your paid ones.

Just my two cents, though I will say that other than that, the very polite and business like way the issue was presented by the original poster, and the very passive aggressive and almost patronizing way it was responded to have changed my mind on using it.

Hi Messanoir. I just wanted to say that I have posted about the free plan before, but that I have nothing to do with Rewards Fuel (I haven’t even used the plugin). I just wanted to help mbgadam and when I wrote that link, that page worked well.

Now, as you said, in that link you can compare only the 3 paid options, but you don’t see anything about the free one. I don’t know why.

Here is still talking about a free plan, but it’s the same link I used before. I think the way they compares plans is broked (or maybe they have another link but they don’t update that). I hope they can clarify what happened.
