• On the positive side, Events Manager is a powerful and customisable events management plugin. We have used it for some years for an Arts Festival.

However, there are some significant flaws:

    1. The customising options are rather restricted within the WP-admin. That means that for more advanced usage, to get it to do what you need it to do will require expertise in php and/or css and back-end file management. For example, there is a good range of placeholders for various kinds of event and location data, but the customisable “attributes” only allow two types of field. There is no formatting editor for the front end location and event submission forms either!
    2. Support, even once you’ve paid for the pro version is quite uneven. It can be helpful but too often you are directed to complex editing of the file templates in the plug in or theme files. This is not satisfactory for most users. Too often responses to support posts are not answered, even in the pro forum.
    3. It would also help to have the option of a performer (or presenter, artist…) custom field type, fully integrated with events. Then EM would be a good option for festival and conference management.
    4. The Events Manager I-O plugin doesn’t export locations properly.
