    Hi, Jeff!

One year ago I have installed Disable Gutenberg on a couple of websites and so far it does a great job – thank you!

I also have another site where I have consciously delayed any WordPress and Woocommerce update but already feel that I must do it. This is why I would like to install Disable Gutenberg on it, too.

My WordPress installation is 4.7.16, but I see that Disable Gutenberg is compatible with 4.9 and above.

What do you think, can I install Disable Gutenberg to my WordPress installation before upgrading WordPress? Do you see any potential issues?

    Thanks and regards,

    Todor

    Hi Todor,

The plugin includes functionality that requires WP v4.9 to work properly. So 4.7 will be incomplete and may cause errors, etc. So not recommended.

I would recommend either DG v1.4 or earlier version should be compatible, or maybe check out the Classic Editor plugin or similar. There are plenty of DG alternatives available, hopefully something will work on older WP versions.

Thanks for your feedback! Indeed it is not possible to activate DG with my obsolete WP installation.

What I did is that I upgraded to the latest version ot WP and then installed Disable Gutenberg and activated it. I hope I will be safe this way.

Yep that’s another way to do it, actually the preferred way so you should be good.

    Thank you!

    Hi,

I could be wrong of course but I was under the impression that Gutenberg is not available (by default at least) in the 4.7.x branch, which would negate the need to install the plugin to begin with ??
