    Hi,
    I would like to know if i must change de location of a .pot file which is inside a plugin. For example:
    /wp-content/plugins/name-plugin/languages/file.pot
    When i am editing in loco translate it says to me that i can lost translation if i update… but i don’t know how i can fix it… I have read a lot of documentation but it isnt easy for me understand it.

    What are you trying to fix?

    Unless you’re the plugin author you should not touch this file. Hence the warning.

    Hi Tim!
    Then i will lost the changes when update?
    How can i avoid this?
    I have added new strings in the pot file because it wasn’t in po file… how can i do to have these strings when i update?

    Don’t add strings into the POT file unless you’re the plugin author or you know exactly what you’re doing.

    If the string is not made available in the POT then contact the plugin author. Either the text is not translatable or they’ve shipped an out-of-date file.

    And if the developer doesn’t add those strings to the .pot file, what chance do I have? Thanks!

    If they refuse to help then we’ll pick up from there. Unfortunately I can’t provide personal support for every theme and plugin out there, so please speak to them first.

    If the developers care about the people using their plugin then they’ll be happy to help you and improve it in the process. At the very least they can tell you if the text you want to translate can actually be translated.
