posts won't show as no sidebar

    I’ve created this website folks, mainly through trial and error and pretty happy with it so far.

    However, I tried to do my first post and nothing shows up, possibly because in the past I removed the sidebar. Could someone detail (in the simplest language as I really don’t follow code etc) how to get my posts to show on the site and how to list them in a sidebar?

    Also, in trying to correct this myself I somehow created a massive blank space at the bottom of each screen. How do I remove it?

    You probably haven’t set a post page, to do this, go to ‘appearance >> customise >> then chose static front page’. In the drop down, select your post page. This should work.

    If you want posts in a sidebar, you need to set widgets. To do this go to. ‘Appearance >> widgets’.

    In this menu, you can drag the posts widget into the sidebar section.

    Thanks. Re the drop down, it doesn’t seem to be showing the ‘Home’ page. It shows everything else.

    Same way you set the post page, but above the post page dropdown there should be a front page dropdown.

    Nope. The home page seemes to be called ‘Title’, but it doesn’t show up in the drop down menu.

    Make a new home page, then go to ‘settings >> reading’.

    Set the home page as the new one you just created. See if that works.

    Go to ‘appearance >> menus’ and add the new home page to the menu.

    Great. That seems to have worked.

    Think I need to figure out how I list the posts, giving each one a title, but I’m nearer than I was last night.

    I also have that massive white space at the bottom, but I’ll figure that one out.
