Posts Won't Publish – Stay as Draft

Any error messages from the server? Try checking the server log files and see if anything is standing out.

That’s a good idea. Will have to check out. Can server errors be viewed from Filezilla, or would I need to login to hosting account?

Also, had another problem where adding Media images wouldn’t view after published. I checked the path and looked on the server and the WordPress path folders were not on the server. I had to manually create the folders on the server and place the images in there. Could this be a related issue? Was thinking maybe permissions got changed or something.

You might be able to locate the error logs on the server using FileZilla – but usually your host will provide a control panel for monitoring/managing your hosted instance on their servers. This control panel may or may not include something to view the server log files. At any rate, if you can’t find it via either method, contact your host about log files as well as the WordPress issue you’re experiencing.

Host said there’s no apparent errors.

– Try to publish Posts, they just go to Draft
– Try to publish new Page, just goes to Draft
– When I could publish a post previously, post images were not being displayed because the server wasn’t creating the folders on the server

It’s like data is not being written to the server. Everything was working fine about a week ago. The host says nothing looks wrong. I’ve checked for malware, nothing came up.

Guess I will have to do a clean install of WP. I do have a backup of the site from a couple of months ago.

Yeah, make a backup and try a fresh install. It seems bizarre that posts aren’t “posting” though. Trying to think of what might even cause that behavior…
