Posts Widget – Sticky Posts – Term

I’m using the posts widget in elementor. I want to use sticky posts for some of my posts. I have it enabled but it does not work for me. I read the following on elementors website:

(Sticky Posts option works only if zero terms have been selected)

I do have a term selected and I need to have it selected. So, my question is do you know of work around where I can show sticky posts whilst still using a term?
