I’m using the Posts widget with Custom Query to display posts from only a few categories.

I have some sticky posts within these categories, however they do not display at the top.

Ignore sticky posts option is set to “No”.

Ideally, I would like the sticky posts to display at the top….or some other solution that accomplishes the same thing.

    Thank

  • According to the documentation for post queries, it looks like: “Sticky Posts option works only if zero terms have been selected”.

Since this note doesn’t mention anything about Author you could try a workaround.
Use some sort of bulk editing plugin to change all authors for your target categories to something like AuthorName-Category1, AuthorName-Category2, etc. and then in the query use Include By > Author.

Edit: I think this is possible without a plugin, see the section of this guide titled Changing the Author for Posts in Bulk

Hope this helped get you closer to a solution
