posts suddenly all italicized

  • I setup a blog for my friend in WP 1.5.1 so she could move over from blogger and created a theme for her based on “Connections” except with custom artwork for her. Because she doesn’t know very many HTML tags I also installed mudbomb’s WYSIWYG plugin. Everything worked fine for a few weeks then yesterday she told me all the posts, titles and sidebar links are suddenly italicized. ??? I’ve checked and there are no italics tags involved. I reloaded the style sheet first to fix, then reloaded the entire theme — no go. Upon further questioning she said first the italics wasn’t working, so she kept pressing on it … then everything was italicized but the most recent post she was working on.

    Anybody have any suggestions as to what I can do to solve this? I also removed the WYSIWYG plugin to see if that made a diff — no avail. ??

  • It does seem as though there is an open em or i tag in the header or in the sidebar.

    I had trouble a while back where the whole thing was bold.

    WP also has difficulty with the underscore mark _ and puts whatever is after it into italics. But it only does the letters until the next blank space.

    Once I had a post that WordPress insisted on making italic. I had selected text and hit the quickbar button for em. My hand twitched and I clicked it twice. No matter how many times I took out the text, took out the em tags, each time I put the text back in, WP remembered and italisized them.

    I just deleted that post and did it again.

    But if it is all posts before and after, then recheck for an open tag in the header or sidebar(s).

    I had the same thing. My whole blog in italics from my latest post onwards.

    I tried Holyroller’s tip and deleted the post. It worked! Weird.

    Thanks. I had <em></em> at the end of one of my posts and everything previous was itaclicized.
