    Hi Wayne,

I’m experiencing a problem with posts not publishing automatically, the title becomes “tmpTitle” and the body is “tmpPost”

I’ve gone through previous support requests for this same issue, and looked at everything done so far.

    Tried so far:

-Increasing memory allocated to WordPress via editing wp-config
-Disabling all other plugins but postie..
-Changed theme to default 2015 theme
    -Installed AP Extended Mime Types

I use Postie on another site with identical settings and it works perfectly (hosted elsewhere with a different provider)

Also, I’ve sent an ultra simple message instead of one I’m trying to work and it works better, sort of.

For those messages they assign the correct post title, user, category and keep the content, but instead of showing as a “draft” they appear as “scheduled” for a date two hours previous to the current time. It’s all very strange. The time on my WordPress site is correct also.

    Please help!

    Keith

    Hey there,

    Fixed it.

I did give it more memory (96M as suggested) but it turns out 96M wasn’t enough. I tried 128M and this time it worked.

Posts still don’t appear straight away, they appear as “scheduled”, but this isn’t really a problem – they eventually become published about 30 minutes later.

    Anyways, all good.

    Thanks for the follow up.

This is happening to me intermittently. After I re-save the Postie mailserver settings it works again, but then after a few emails it stops. My memory was already increased to 100M but I upped it to 128M per the solution above.

I’ve also read about this cron thing and changing those settings but have not idea what that is. Any other suggestions for me?

Please look in you php or webserver logs at the time the issue happened, you should see an error message. Without that message it is very hard to help solve the issue.

Very likely you have large attachments which is causing PHP to run out of memory.

I’m still hung on this item. I have tried everything that pearldesigndub who opened this tread has tried. I have checked and according to an info.php file I have 128M of memory allocated. I verified this with my hosting help desk. This is the most that I am allocated.
I have tried to decipher info from your Process Email log, some server log files, the eror logs supplied by my hosting company and any other place I can imagine to try and get a thread to follow. Short messages work perfectly, medium messages from a hundred bytes up to a couple of kbytes are intermittent and anything big 5Kb and above just get lost. Sometime the Postie plug in just runs and runs and runs. How can I supply you with some information to help.
Love the plug in and it is fantastic except for this problem. The problem is intermittent and very difficult to follow. Please some assistance. Don P

You can try setting “Maximum number of emails to process” setting to something small so as to use less memory.

You can also set “Enable Debug Logging” to Yes so that when the issue happens you have a full log.

Hi Wayne and thanks for the prompt reply. This morning I have run 4 tests. No message in the email, a short (1K), medium(5k) and long(22K) message.
The Max emails is always set to 1. The Enable Debug and Enable Error Logging are both set to yes. The first 3 message went through OK and were posted, one of the Servers error logs can be viewed at https://ffla-sandiego.org/atry/ The messages are all the same. This is the web site that is having the problem. The 4th just hung until a 504 Gateway Time-out error was posted. Nothing ever appeared in the error log.

@dpiller Please delete that user that you posted. I redacted the user ID and password but the information was on the Internet for about 19 hours. Posting user IDs and passwords on the Internet even for test installations is never a good idea.

Now for the why: The internet is a wonderful place full of very nice people and a few very bad ones. I’m sure everyone here is very nice however, by giving some ones keys to your house you are trusting they wont steal anything. Likewise the person who takes the keys is now responsible for the house FOREVER.

If something was to go wrong, then the author may well legally become liable for damages, which they would not normally have been as the software is provided without warranty.
