Posts, Pages, Media gone after re-install
-
I’m not sure how or why but last week my dashboard began acting up (loading slow >2-3 minutes) and even then not loading completely. My site still seemed functional though.
In an effort to resolve the issue, I disabled all plug-ins (the wp equivalent of “did you reboot your computer?). That sped things up, but the dashboard was still not completely loading. Trying to re-activate the plug-ins and that’s when things went truly south. My entire site seemed broken now.
I attempted a clean/fresh re-install of wordpress. I had a backup of my entire public_html folder, so I deleted all my wp files and did a fresh installation via my host cPanel. I then had my host restore my db. I now have a fresh wp install, and restored db. I updated my wp_config.php file to make sure my db name matches. Lastly I re-uploaded via ftp my content folder.
Strangely all the plugins show up, but nothing else. Posts, pages, media…all gone. It’s been physically uploaded via ftp. The files are there, but wordpress doesn’t see any of it.
Any ideas? My host is washing their hands of it, saying restoring the db is the extent of what they can do as they don’t offer web developing services.
