    Hi,

I have a situation where the ALT text shown in the archives of posts and pages uses the Post/Page title instead of the ALT text specified in the images when uploaded. Can you please help? Thanks

    Hello @yabdali

Do you happen to have a live URL where we could check a few things out? ??

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Go to the home page and move the mouse on one of the images of the tours, you will see it says Home 7 for example. Go to the shop page and you will see that in the shop page it shows the exact alt text of the image.

    Hello @yabdali

Oh, I see what you mean now. However, I have researched this and I do not think it would be right to show the ALT tag in the tooltip. The tooltip is used for the TITLE tag. This is something that’s not necessarily controlled by our theme, as that’s simply how the HTML system works like.

Check this out – https://ibb.co/CBhjNBJ. I have created a very simple HTML file with the same tags added to the image. And after loading it up inside the browser and hovering, the TITLE tag is displayed – https://ibb.co/pKBDm76

After removing the TITLE tag entirely from that simple snippet, no more tooltips appear, which would confirm that’s how things work. It wouldn’t be correct from our end to change these defaults, as people are used to them and messing with people’s muscle memory isn’t fair.

It may be required to implement a specialised plugin for this matter. Many SEO plugins should have some options to adjust these, so you may want to look into those.

    Hope this clears everything up!

    Thanks.

I think you misunderstood my point, The images or photos already have alt text and title set in the media itself but the theme doesn’t load the default title in the home page but it uses the page title plus a number instead of showing the original title in the tooltip. If you go to the shop page (Experience Hub, you will see that the tooltip shows the right Title value.

I found that Rank Math SEO plugin was overriding the default image titles, so Blocksy is not the cause of the issue. Thanks.

    Hi @yabdali

I understand. Though, this wasn’t initially explained. In any case, I’m glad to hear that things are Ok now with the plugin. ??

    Take care.
