• Thanks for viewing. I have a static frontpage which is a page titled ‘home’, which i’ve given a template called ‘home’, the file is called home.php. Page.php file is the default template and i’ve created a test page set to default template to see if it is recognised and working and it is. In accordence with the doc on static pages i set up the post page to a page called ‘blog’ which is set to default template but when viewed has the same template as home. Cannot work this out, any suggestions?

    Many Thanks

    Frank

  • First thing I would try is naming the template something besides home.php and assigning it to your static front page, then see if your blog page reverts to using index.php

You mean the file or template? I think i tried that before, then the home page is not needed, just use index and have that set to home template?

    thanks for reply

I had assumed that home.php was a special template you were using for your front (home) page?

If that is the case, I would rename home.php and reassign it to your front page (home)

If home.php isn’t special….why do you need it?

I’m just thinking that your blog page (which is supposed to use index.php) is being confused by the existence of home.php which is a special use name.
